A Road Trip Across a Divided America

A Collaboration with America’s Biggest Depolarization Players

A Documentary starring 200 strangers.

Driving from the west coast to the east coast, award winning filmmaker Joseph Sim is making the case that there’s far more that connects us, than divides us.

Between asking every friend and stranger along the way, their take on the same question, and sitting down with experts on bridging the divide. This feature length documentary will answer how we lost connection with our neighbours, and more importantly, how we get it back!

"Every American needs to see this movie. a healing and uplifiting experience"

"a cross country guide to connecting with strangers, loved ones and those that have drifted apart"

"this documentary gave me space to heal. to learn. to love again, thank you for driving across this country"

What happens when you ask every stranger across America the exact same question?

A man wearing a gray beanie, gray coat, pink shirt, and striped tie looks directly at the camera with an urban background.
A man with a beard wearing round sunglasses, a red beanie, and a hooded jacket standing on a city street with a bus in the background.
Two smiling women with their arms around each other on a grassy field, enjoying a moment of friendship and joy.
Smiling young man in a graduation gown standing outdoors with trees and buildings in the background.
Young man with dark hair and sunglasses looking down inside a vehicle with a blurred outdoor background.
Two women smiling on a city street, with blurred pedestrians and buildings in the background.
A man in sunglasses standing beside a red compact car in a scenic outdoor setting with mountains and a lake in the background, holding a crumpled paper boat.
Traditionally… within the documentary format, a question is posed and seven experts in a studio space map out their ideas. Well… given the current polarized state of the United States… wouldn’t it be fun to make a documentary starring “strangers across America”?
We’ll bounce between red and blue states, young and old, the politically immersed and the politically tired. To answer two vital questions throughout an election year.
“How did we lose connection with our neighbor? And how do we get it back?”
This film will never tell you who to vote for, this film will never tell you what to think. This film is simply a case for curiosity. A social experiment to see what happens when you pose the same question to an entire country.
A collaboration with the biggest players in “Depolarization”.
